Privacy Policy

The short version
Your files are never uploaded. When you open a Markdown file in MD File Viewer, the file is read, parsed and rendered by your own browser, on your own device. The contents of your document are not transmitted to us or to any server. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, drop in a file, and watch — no request contains your document. The viewer even works with your internet connection completely turned off.
Information we collect
- Your documents: never collected, never uploaded, never stored. Processing is 100% local in your browser.
- Server logs: like virtually all websites, our hosting provider (a CDN) may keep standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and abuse prevention. We do not use these to identify you.
- No accounts: the site has no login, so we hold no account data.
Third-party advertising
This site is free to use. To cover hosting costs, we may display third-party advertising in the future (for example via Google AdSense or a similar network). When that happens, ad partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and — depending on your region and settings — to personalize them. You can typically control personalized advertising through your Google Ad Settings or your browser's cookie settings. This paragraph will be updated with the specific provider's name and links when ads go live.
Local storage
The viewer does not require cookies or local storage to function. Any data you paste or open exists only in the current browser tab and disappears when you close or refresh the page.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note them on this page.
